Uganda launched a licensing round for five exploration blocks in the country’s western
region. A government statement issued in Kampala said the acreage covers 4,928 sq km
in the Avivi, Omuka, Kasuruban, Turaco and Ngaji blocks, which are both offshore and
onshore of Lake Albert, which is shared with the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo.
