An oil release by BP in December in Prudhoe Bay field triggered an Alaska Oil & Gas Conservation Commission review of BP’s operations in the field. The review will “assess the mechanical integrity” of BP’s 1,780 wells. The leak was the second since April 2017 and is linked to the thawing of permafrost that damaged a pressure gage.
